Trip Overview
The first night stay with Tai Youn family, your activities join the traditional Tai Youn Baci-ceremony, traditional performance, Lamvong Lao, you participate & practice such as: prepare Baci-ceremony equipment, making banana leaf flower. The second home stay is Tai Deang, you will see & take part Laos Whisky making, traditional weaving, black smith, bamboo basket making, Tai Deang Baci-ceremony, practice & learning how to process natural dyeing & traditional weaving.

Day 1: Luang Namtha- Tai Youn Home stay.
Start at 3:30 PM from our office by Tuk Tuk or bicycle (depending on your preference) to Ban Vieng Neua only 15 minutes, you will get warm welcome from home stay owner, the local guide will take you walk around the village visit field, Nam Tha river, Tai Youn temple. Next join a traditional Baci-ceremony, traditional performance, Lamvong Lao, test local food prepares by owner home stay, talk with home stay owner & go to bed.
Day 2: Tai Youn Home stay – CBT activities-Ban Pieng Ngam Home stay.
In the morning you have time walk around the village to see different style of life, after breakfast join community-based tourism activities as: prepare baci-ceremony equipment, making banana leaf flower. After lunch, visit old temple of Luang Namtha town, next direct to Tai Deang Village “Ban Pieng Ngam” the villages of home stay & are famous for their many different handicrafts, walk around the village to see & learning how to process Laos Whisky making, traditional weaving, blacksmith, bamboo basket making, before dinner participate a traditional Baci-ceremony, overnight in Tai Deang house style.
Day 3: Ban Pieng Ngam Home stay – CBT activities – Luang Namtha town
In the morning walk around in the village, after breakfast participate & practice community-based tourism activities with local people such as: step of natural dyeing & traditional weaving, after lunch visit Tai Dam Village “Ban Nam Ngaen” the village who process of making the famous Lao rice whiskey, visit Phoum Pouk stupa, Luang Namtha stupa, back to Luang Namtha town.

Phieng Ngam Eco-lodge
All eco-lodge was designed from Tai Deang Ethnic house style with toilets inside in each room located near the rice fields that you can see green viewpoint on the rainy season. We have 3 rooms of eco-lodge the first room 5 single beds with 2 toilets, the second room 2 beds (Double & Single beds) with 1 toilet and the last room 1 double bed with 1 toilet inside. All room have been passed Luang Namtha Homestay Standard. Each room in eco-lodge include standard of mattress, blanket, mosquito net, towel and pillows. Our toilets are western toilets with hot shower.
What you should bring on a homestay
Small backpack, T-shirt, short pants, long pants, towel or sarong, pair of socks, long sleeve shirt, pair of slippers, pair of shoes, swimsuit, soap, shampoo, toothbrush & toothpaste, mosquito spray, sun cream, flashlight, 2 liter drinking water for the first day, hat or cap, first aid kit & toilet roll.
What you should NOT take on a Homestay (Please Ask)
Passport, Flight ticket and Travelers Cheques. Whenever you lose your passport you have to go to Vientiane to get a new one. Also, a tropical shower can reduce your precious papers to something else. At the safe in your hotel your belongings will be safe!
Make sure that your photo or film camera is packed waterproof, nature here is unpredictable.
Candies for the children would be nice but they usually can’t go to the dentist easily. A donation for the village or village school is a better idea.
Bank notes in high denominations will be a problem changing them in smaller ones.
Important do’s & don’ts:
Do not give individual gifts, sweets or money to children, ask before taking photos of people or spiritual items, help keep the trails clean by not littering, please purchase handicrafts but do not purchase antiques, do not remove any archaeological remains from the site of the ancient sites, stay with the guides all the time, do not use drugs.
